We are fortunate to have one of the strongest junior sections in the county that contains a very impressive number of low handicap golfers.
The juniors have their own section and hold their own competitions throughout the summer months, thanks mainly to the work and dedication of our junior organisers who give their time unselfishly to help the juniors.
We are very proud to have achieved the English Golf Unions “GolfMark” accreditation in 2007 demonstrating the Club’s commitment and care for junior golfers. This accreditation has allowed the Club to forge new and very important relationships with the secondary school partnerships and provide structured tuition for local children.
We are equally proud of our Junior Bursary, started in 2001 by captain, Jim Bamforth. It has funded tuition for our juniors ever since and has been a significant factor in the achievements of individuals and the junior team. In 2012, this helped our Youth Shield Team win all their group matches and reach the quarter finals.
Individually, Club juniors have won a number of county honours during the past few years. During 2012, this success has continued with Scott Hudson and Todd Clements winning The Essex County Boys Foursomes. Scott also represented Essex U18 Boys and won the South East England Boys Foursomes and was tied 1st in the Romford Scratch, and was ranked 13th in the Essex Order of Merit.
Our girls also had a fantastic year. Chelsea Bernardine represented The Essex County Girls when winning The Alresford Cup and also made the final of The Hunter Foursomes. Danii Hunter represented Braintree in The Logan Trophy making it to the semi finals. Rebecca Earl won The Essex Ladies County Golf Associations Hitchcock Trophy, The Marshalls Cup at Bishop's Stortford GC and the East Bunny Cup. Rebecca also won the best girls score at The Ipswich Junior Open and reached the final of The Hunter Foursomes.
Our Junior Section has grown over the last two years, with our Professionals Richard and Steve working closely with them to improve their development as golfers.
